Clif Bar - Co-Creation Workshop

BACKGROUND:

A popular manufacturing plant is ready to update the look of their facility and create more human-centered support spaces for their employees.

OUTCOMES:

One proposed solution was a redesigned locker with a digital lock that could be opened with badge access. The lockers also had separate compartments for boots, hats, and street clothes, as well as hooks and a bar for hanging items. Locker prototypes also included a USB charging port in each locker, allowing employees to charge their phones while keeping them secure, so they could call their family during breaks.

KEY INSIGHTS:

The lockers and locker rooms at this food manufacturer were not meeting employee needs. Many employees with mobility issues were unable to use the combination locks provided with the lockers. Other employees had little use for the lockers, because there were not enough compartments to keep their dirty boots, helmets, and street clothes separate. Additionally, many employees used the locker rooms as a place to make phone calls or store their phones - however, there was no secure place to charge them.
